<h1>General Overview</h1><p>A transformative initiative at the intersection of decentralized technologies and medical open innovation. We pioneer a new model for creating, verifying, and disseminating open-source medical devices and software.</p><p><br></p><h2>Vision and Purpose</h2><p>Establish trust and transparency in open-source medical innovation while empowering global collaboration. By leveraging decentralized technologies, we create an inclusive ecosystem where developers, researchers, medical professionals, and patients can work together to create high-quality, verifiable solutions that address critical healthcare needs.</p><p><br></p><h2>Origin and Context</h2><p><a href="https://www.sensorica.co/ventures/scientific-instruments/pep-master" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>PEP Master</strong></a>, is focused on designing and disseminating affordable DIY medical devices for cystic fibrosis therapy, currently in collaboration with medical professionals from Sainte Justine Hospital in Montreal. This rare genetic disorder affects only approx. 162,000 individuals worldwide, i.e. no incentives for the private-sector. This initiative is deployed within <strong>Sensorica</strong>, which provides infrastructure for open innovation and distributed production, tools for transparent contribution tracking, accounting, equitable distribution of rewards. Sensorica’s proven methodologies have facilitated partnerships with academic institutions, nonprofits, and industry leaders.</p><p><br></p><h2>The Trust Platform</h2><p>At the base layer, we are building is a P2P platform that facilitates the authentication of open source hardware designs and open source software. It will provide new tools for developers in the open source communities to catalog their creations and make them accessible to the public. In addition to authentication, the platform will offer tools and methods for version tracking, allowing open source developers to fork and remix existing creations (similar to Git) while adhering to strict protocols for maintaining quality, safety, provenance and authenticity. These features enable developers from various open source communities and networks to collaborate seamlessly across organizational and institutional boundaries, to innovate and improve designs, reducing the problem of unproductive proliferation (forking) and competitive dynamics.&nbsp;</p><p>Another requirement for the platform is to provide economic incentives and motivation for open source hardware and software developers, and to ensure the sustainability.</p><p>As already mentioned, this trust platform is developed in the context of <a href="https://www.sensorica.co/ventures/scientific-instruments/pep-master" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">PEP Master</a>, an open initiative to develop open source and DIY medical devices and associated software. We are planning to leverage the patient-doctor relationship and the requirement for high levels of trust in the medical sector to implement measures that ensure financial rewards for developers, using existing web3 primitives. This is part of what we call the <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jeb4-KhPCEAL-JowWnQW4RCMF18FqiF3-kARpSVXvgg/edit?usp=drivesdk" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Trust Economy scheme</a>.</p><p><br></p><h1>Road map</h1><p>The initial phase focuses on evaluating various web3 platforms to determine their suitability for meeting the needs of open-source developers in the medical device field, in the context of the PEP Master project. The platform must support a global ecosystem of innovators, patients, medical professionals, and regulatory bodies while maintaining scalability. The outcome of this phase will be a clear development road map.</p><p><br></p><p>The subsequent stages of development include:</p><ol><li><strong>Compliance and Legal Framework</strong>: Design and implement a <strong>proof of concept</strong> for the trust platform, to match the most important expectations of the healthcare regulatory bodies in terms of standard requirements for safety and security of medical devices. We are currently engaging with Health Canada. This proof of concept will leverage existing primitives that have already been built on top of these web3 platforms, with minimal integration.</li><li><strong>Minimal viable platform</strong>: Build a <strong>working prototype</strong> of the trust platform to demonstrate its relevance in the medical field. This prototype will support the basic needs of the PEP Master project and the most important regulatory approval requirements emanating from our discussions with <strong>Health Canada</strong>. This prototype will allow an integration of multiple DLT platforms to provide provide privacy-preserving and tamper-resistant decentralized data storage, privacy-preserving data transfer, verifiable claims, a transaction layer, a marketplace for valuations, with a front-end for intuitive user interface.</li><li><strong>Deployment and Scaling</strong>: Build and launch a fully-functional and feature complete trust platform, able to scale to incorporate more stakeholders and projects like PEP Master.</li></ol><p><br></p><p>This road map aims to create a comprehensive and sustainable ecosystem for open-source medical device development, offering an alternative to traditional supply chains and fostering collaboration across the healthcare industry.</p><p><br></p><h1>Resource allocation</h1><p>Your help will be used for the first milestone, <strong>Compliance and Legal Framework</strong>. The funds will be allocated transparently by the PEP Master contributors (affiliates), according to Sensorica's tested and proven methods for network resource planning, contribution accounting and benefit redistribution.
